Occupational Therapy Approach of Stroke Patients with Apraxia According to Severity : A Case Report

Abstract
Objective: The subjects with apraxia after stroke have several problems, and the severity was different. Therefore, it was necessary to consider other factors than apraxia and appropriate therapies. The purpose of this study was to investigate the efficient protocol of apraxia through two case studies with mixed problems.

Methods: This study was conducted From March 2019 and recruited 2 subjects who were diagnosed with stroke and complained of apraxia. The first patient had mild problem of apraxia. The Intervention was performed 30 minutes for each therapy during the 5 weeks, a total of 15 sessions. Interventions were; sequencing Activities of Daily Life training, imitating gesture training, and applying task performance table. Second patient had several problem of apraxia. The intervention was performed for 30 minutes for single therapy, a total of 16 sessions. Interventions were; Activities of daily life performance training with compensatory approach and making task performance table at last.

Result: Both Patients showed improvement in state of activities of daily life above baseline. Second patient had no praxis improvement. However first patient had improvement not only in Activities of daily life but also praxis.

Conclusion: From this study, we could find individual systematic intervention which can used in patients who have post-stroke apraxia with diverse problem.
